Our start-up story with YENA!

We were lucky enough to be invited to share the story of Little Lightbulb at Bath's Young Entrepreneurs Networking Association or YENA for short.

YENA

The talk in short, involved a Q&A between Founder of YENA - Ash Phillips and our Co-Founder Ryan Vaughan on the story of how we began and why it is we do, what we do [repetition YOLO].

"Started from the bedroom now we're here" – Drake*

The video is yet to be released but in the meantime why not check out the answers to their quick-fire questions.

Little Lightbulb

Who are you and what do you do?

Ryan Vaughan and I am the Co-Founder of Little Lightbulb, my job is to target your audience effectively through market research and creative advertising.

How have you found your start-up journey so far?

Absolute rollercoaster, no two days are the same, major highs [and lows] but overall built a team that I can happily spend 50 hours a week with.

What do you listen to whilst you work?

Hans Zimmer for the focus time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5IailIzqdc

Alternatively if we’ve had too many coffees before 11:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my6bfA14vMQ

What drives you to get up in the morning?

No, in all seriousness I couldn’t work in any other field and the ability to have fresh projects across a variety of industries keeps every day interesting and challenging in an environment that forces you to question the norm.

What three things can’t you live without?

*pauses for original “food”, “water” answers* I’d say curiosity, excitement and humour.

What’s your best time-saving trick?

Lists. I would say having a priority list of quick wins with more taxing work for later in the morning is one of the best ways to be productive.

What have you learnt that you’d like others to know?

It’s just a business. Do not let it affect your personal life to the extent that it damages others around you. Put it in perspective and accept that you can’t operate at 110% [insert rage cliché] all the time.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 12 months?

I see myself living in Bath, growing the agency and continuing to be a leading digital studio.

The best advice you’ve ever received?

“Get a grip on the finances” – Matt Connolly.

Moving forward we will be hosting YENA Bath events and looking forward to meeting many of you there!
